How it was put together
Every year as part of da Vinci Days, the community gathers to display their "Avenue of Imagination" project based on that year's theme. My husband, Gerry, and I have done this for 3 out of the last 4 years. In 2008 we made our project into its own community project Stargazer.
2009 da Vinci Days Project: Escher-Style Big Fish [Tessellation]
As part of da Vinci Days' "Big Fish" Avenue of Imagination project, we created one big fish out of many small 5" fish; similar to the scene in animated film, "Finding Nemo", where Nemo's dad and Dorie were talking with a school of fish who would respond by grouping themselves into different shapes to answer the questions.
The idea was to make it look like a large fish from a distance;
and then up close see all the small fish.
